Colonic Hydrotherapy Treatment

Colon hydrotherapy also known as colonics may be performed on two different systems; the open system and the closed system. The colon therapist administering the therapy must be licensed by the state to operate the colon therapy equipment.

Depending on their knowledge and experience level, a colon therapist may be either a key to unlocking good health or simply a colon therapy equipment operator. Knowing the difference between the two systems and knowing how to choose a good therapist is an important element in maximizing the benefits of colon hydrotherapy in the long run.

Colonic Irrigation

What is the difference between the open system and the closed system?

The open system utilizes the Lower Intestinal Bottom Bowel Evacuation (LIBBE) equipment. This system features a one piece fiberglass seat-like table upon which the client rests; a basin is cut out of the molded fiberglass table to allow for feces evacuation. Above the cut out basin, a speculum is attached to the seat and is connected to the equipment’s water supply. A sterile rectal insert is placed on the speculum tube.

Once the therapist demonstrates how to insert the tube, he or she leaves you in complete privacy to insert the tube and get comfortable on the table. Once the client is ready, the colon therapist operates the equipment to let the gravity fed water enter the colon through the rectum. The client then pushes the water and feces out as they would during a normal bowel movement. The closed system also utilizes a table similar to a massage table. The therapist inserts a small tube into the client’s rectum and then connects the tube to the equipment’s water supply. The water is not gravity fed but is pressurized and must be monitored carefully to be sure of the proper pressure and temperature.

Once the colon is filled with water, the therapist must manually drain the water and feces out through the same small tube. This method will not work for clients passing large pieces of fecal matter. There are also higher risks associated with this system due to the pressurized water used. The colon therapist you choose should operate the type of system that is best suited for your particular colon health condition.

Healing Your Bowel Naturally

Getting to know your colon therapist shouldn’t be burdensome. Your goal for visiting them is to gain good holistic health; they often have years of experience and useful contacts needed to help guide you on your wellness journey. So far, it’s a match made in heaven. When choosing a colon therapists, ask about his or her background. Many will have experience in the medical field, and many others will have a homeopathic background.

If you are interested in natural healing, find a therapist that has a combined medical and homeopathic background of several years. Also, discover what continuing education courses the therapist has recently taken (e.g. parasitology). Finally, take special note of therapists that emphasize good nutritional changes such as eliminating wheat gluten protein as well as colon therapy to achieve a happy colon.

Verify the professional reputation of your potential therapist. After speaking with your potential therapist, take a trip to a local health food store that you trust. Casually ask about colon hydrotherapy and good local therapists. If the therapist has many years of experience and has an established business in the local area, the alternative community will know them and their reputation. Cleanliness is a must in the colon hydrotherapy world. Make sure that when you visit the office that you note the cleanliness of the facility and the professionalism of the staff.
